Hakuna Matata:
Leadership Lessons from Southwestern Kenya
Speaker: Kim Guenther
Did you know that Kenya is home to over 70 distinct ethnic groups? From its stunning landscapes, ranging from savannahs to mountains, to its bustling urban life and welcoming rural communities, Kenya is a place of incredible diversity. And—"Hakuna Matata" is more than just a catchy Swahili phrase from The Lion King—it’s a way of life in Kenya that reflects the positive, laid-back mindset that Kenyans often embrace in their approach to life’s challenges. Join Marshall’s Kim Guenther, a member of the University of Minnesota Extension’s design team for the Rural Leadership Program in southwestern Kenya, as she shares insights about the work being done through collaboration with Kenya’s Kisii University—where leadership lessons flow in both directions. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with global leadership, learn about a remarkable cross-cultural partnership, and find inspiration for your own leadership journey—whether in the heart of rural Minnesota or the communities of western Kenya– Hakuna Matata!
We hope to see you there!
