Job Description
Salary and Terms:  Probationary, full time position. Salary placement is based on evaluation of experience. 
MSUAASF Range D.
 
Appointment Date:  August 15, 2018 or date to be negotiated.

Position DescriptionThe Director of Development leads a segment of the major gifts program for the University and the SMSU Foundation while developing relationships with potential donors through effective communication strategies, meaningful engagement, and cultivation and solicitation activities.
 
Qualifications:                   
  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in fundraising, financial planning, or higher education leadership
  • An overall knowledge of the advancement and development fields
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and success in fund raising methods and strategies
  • Short- and long-range planning knowledge with special emphasis on advancement, and foundation experience
  • Understanding of professional fund raising operations and ethics
  • The ability to work strategically, develop and implement constituency programs and activities, along with a talent for motivating volunteers
  • Competency in problem solving
  • Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge in these areas: Windows, Microsoft Office, donor databases, content management and tracking systems such as Blackbaud: Raiser’s Edge
  • Ability to adjust to new situations and change
 Please Note:  Requires a valid driver’s license. Extensive travel, weekend and evening work required.
