Head Start programs prepare America’s most vulnerable young children to succeed in school and in life beyond school. To achieve this, Head Start programs deliver services to children and families in core areas of early learning, health, and family well-being while engaging parents as partners every step of the way. The Head Start program encompasses Head Start Preschool programs, which primarily serve 3- and 4-year-old children, and Early Head Start programs for infants, toddlers, and pregnant women.

 

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Under the supervision of the Head Start Director, the Education Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing educational services that promote children’s social competence and support parents as their child’s primary educators. This position is based in Worthington, MN, with oversight responsibilities and occasional travel to the Pipestone facility.

 

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

· BA or advanced degree in early childhood education; or BA or advanced degree and equivalent coursework in early childhood education with early education teaching experience:

· Knowledge and experience in the philosophy and practices of Head Start or comparable child development programs.

· Experience with Creative curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD assessment tracking, licensing standards for day care centers is preferred

· Professional maturity and a cooperative attitude aligned with program goals

· Respect and compassion for children and adults, with flexibility, patience, and a commitment to maintaining the physical, mental, and personal well-being needed to perform effectively

· Have education or experience in collaborating with parents in the education of their children.

 

SKILLS / ABILITIES:

Requires strong skills in abstract reasoning, problem-solving, planning, and analysis, particularly in the areas of training, evaluation, and program development. Must possess effective interpersonal and oral communication skills for supervisory responsibilities, as well as strong written and verbal communication abilities to conduct meetings, lead training sessions, and prepare clear, comprehensive, and grammatically correct reports. Demonstrated success working collaboratively in a team environment and the ability to represent the organization positively within the community are essential.

Must have visual and auditory acuity within professionally determined normal ranges (with correction if necessary) and sufficient manual dexterity to operate a computer and standard office equipment. The position requires the ability to lift up to 55 pounds, travel as needed, enter and exit vehicles independently, and tolerate exposure to adverse weather conditions. Experience working effectively with culturally diverse staff and clients is required.

 

This is a full-time (40 hours/week), on-site position. Starting annual salary $54,625 - $56,264 based on skill, education and experience. Benefit package includes PTO, paid holidays, and available health, life, dental and vision insurance.
